Let us know in the comments below which of these stones you would choose for your next project or if you have a different personal favorite not on this list.
Calacatta Gold Marble
Calacatta Gold is an Italian marble that is creamy White with Gold and Beige veining throughout. The striking veins running throughout this stone make a bold impression perfect for a long island or slab backsplash.
Palladio Moro (or Palladio Doge) Marble Terrazzo
Various sizes and types of top quality marbles are blended with resins in Black or White to create a chunky, Terrazzo look (select a stone with resin that is tested for contact with food and treated for stain resistance for kitchen countertop use or stick to accents like the front of the island with this stone).
Travertine
A form of Limestone which originates from various locations across the globe most frequently near natural mineral springs. There are numerous varieties available, the most popular being the classic Beige pictured here. This stone is softer and more porous than Granite so be careful to wipe up spills right away and re-seal your Travertine surfaces as instructed by your supplier.
Emperador Marble
Available in a light and dark variety, this Spanish marble has a rich Brown color accented by Creamy White veins. It is most commonly used in kitchens and bathrooms in a glossy polished finished but is also available in a honed or leathered matte finish depending on your overall design aesthetic.
Onyx
One of the stones with the most unique variations of pattern and color, Onyx is filled with intergrowths of Mogonite and Quartz in a variety of sizes and shapes. The Chinese Green Onyx shown here has a mixture of Deep Green, light Green, White and Black. Onyx is found all over the world and because it is naturally translucent you will often see the stone slabs backlit on wall or island applications.
