April Florian, IDT
Creative Director
Backstory & Formal Training
While growing up in Edmonton, April was accustomed to the colour of her family living room changing almost every year. Her mother was owner of her own custom window coverings business so with renovation, construction, and painting projects a regular part of early life, April came by her talent and passion for design naturally! As a young adult, she attended NAIT and earned a diploma in Interior Design Technology in 2013. Additionally, she gained a certificate in Project Management from MacEwan University in 2020.
Professional Experience
April brings to Archetype an extensive background in sales and Interior Design services. As Design Lead and Sales Executive for one of the top custom furniture and lighting retailers in the province she became an expert at providing friendly and knowledgeable customer service, fashioning herself into a hub of information on products and design. April worked with high-end, custom lines such as Ligne Roset, Vitra, Bonaldo, and Cassina for over eight years. She assessed project scope, measured spaces, and created floor plans, elevations, and 3D perspectives to present to clients while ensuring projects remained on schedule and within budget. April is now the Creative Director at Archetype which includes showroom design, curation of the sample library and project styling along with designing and quoting cabinet packages for her clients.
Personal
In her spare time April enjoys long walks through downtown and the river valley, relaxing poolside outdoors whenever possible, and reading true crime and mystery novels with a glass of Pinot Noir. She also enjoys watching her husband cook delicious meals while she provides the essential moral support required to achieve culinary greatness.
